HW1
(due on Monday, Feb 1): ·
Make
a copy of this
spreadsheet, rename it to include your name, and share it with your
research advisor and me. It is
expected that each student in this class will work 10 to 15 hours per week
(including class time and meetings with their advisor) on the project. You are required to log any hours spent on
the project in this spreadsheet every
week. These spreadsheets will be
checked regularly by your advisor and the course instructor. Start by logging the time of our first
class meeting. ·
In
the second tab of the spreadsheet, draft up a research project timeline
(with as much detail as possible). In
the first tab, log the hours you spent doing this! (See how this works?) Meet with your adviser to consult with them
on this timeline. Log the time you
spent meeting with your adviser. (If
you are unable to meet with your adviser this week, you may submit this next
week instead.) · Put together (an updated) list of papers you expect to use in the background section of your research paper, one of which you will present in class (that you haven’t already presented). Ask your adviser or myself for help with this if you are not sure how to proceed with this. This list will be due in two weeks (Feb 8). · During class next week you will describe your research topic (or update us on your research), explain previous work you have done (if any), go over the research plan, and present some questions/problems for class discussion you will be looking to answer/solve as part of this research. |

HW 2 ·
Share with me (and your adviser)
the (updated) annotated bibliography of your related works, specifying the
one you wish to present this semester if you have a preference. This should be shared with me before class
on Monday, Feb 8. If you already have a related works section
written up from a previous semester, you may share that instead. (This is your change to revisit it and
update it!) |
